SOLARIA

Northwestern Elevated Plains — Holy City and Seat of Light

A city engineered to feel holy. A civilization built to make certain truths invisible. It largely succeeds at both.

The Holy City

Solaria glows because the Lumen Script infrastructure — runes built into roads, buildings, and water systems — continuously channels ambient Light magic. The city was engineered to feel holy. Its radial layout, marble colonnades, and canal system were not designed for beauty alone but for the specific psychological effect of inhabiting a place that appears to operate at a higher register than ordinary existence.

The Basilica is the largest structure, visible from any point in the city, designed to be unavoidable. The elevated plateau geography contributes to Solaria's unusual weather stability — which the institution's literature attributes to Light's blessing and which meteorologists attribute to topography. Both explanations may be correct.

The Luminous Concord

Solaria's governing body is a theocracy operating through the Noble House system. Five houses control political life: Veris (supreme, doctrinal authority), Dawncrest (military), Arden (archivists), Solmira (administrators), and Vey — present in the founding texts, absent from every subsequent record. The institution does not discuss House Vey.

Maltheon Veris holds the title of High Aurelian — the most politically significant position in Solarian Light magic governance. The Concord enforces doctrinal compliance as a condition of supernatural integration, which makes Solaria's apparent inclusivity something more complicated than it appears.

Luminara Sanctum

At the city's heart sits Luminara Sanctum — the oldest continuously operating academy in Argos. Where every High Aurelian since the Second Covenant was trained. Where Asura's story begins. The Sanctum does not simply teach Light magic — it teaches students to want the right things, to understand Solarian doctrine not as constraint but as the correct shape of ambition.

Underground, the suppressed teachings of Aurelion Caelum Vey exist in fragments that the church has been confiscating for two centuries without managing to fully erase.

Relationship with Argos

Solaria sends doctrinal missionaries throughout Argos. The Keeper's Guard — Solaria's military arm — has never successfully coordinated a joint operation with the Obsidian Crown's War Council. Every attempt has collapsed at the jurisdiction question.

The Solaran Reach to the southwest serves as Solaria's breadbasket and soft power zone — technically independent regional governors who maintain formal independence and practice compliant deference in everything that matters.
