SUNKEN MARCHES

Southeastern Coastal Lowlands — Vampire Aristocratic Heartland

Old money that has been old for so long it has become architecture. The estates were built to last forever and are slowly being reclaimed by the wetlands.

The Retreat of Old Power

The Sunken Marches is where vampire aristocracy retreated when civilization modernized around them. Rather than fully adapt, the old families built inward — fortifying their estates, deepening their networks, and waiting with the patience of immortals for the world to need them again.

The wetland geography makes the region naturally defensible and naturally isolating. Outsiders get lost. Locals never do. Ancient mangrove forests. Crumbling estates in subtropical humidity. Deveraux Enterprises headquarters rises above mangrove canopies — its corporate towers a visual that captures the entire region's aesthetic: old power dressed in new architecture.

Adrian Deveraux

Adrian Deveraux's primary residence is here. The Heart of Ife anchor artifact is somewhere on the estate grounds — location unknown even to most Deveraux family members. He visits Salencia on the Velmoor Coast twice a year. His schedule is public knowledge. What he actually does during those visits is managed carefully enough that speculation has never been resolved into fact. Alucard does not maintain a visible presence in the Marches but several of the oldest estates are historically his. He visits without announcement. His relationship with the Deveraux Accord is not governance — it is something older, something the Accord families know not to examine too closely.

Blood Commerce Infrastructure

Supernatural medical supply chains run through the Marches — blood commerce infrastructure that the surface world uses without asking too many questions about origin. The vampire financial institutions headquartered here hold debt positions in governments across the continent and have a documented interest in ensuring those governments remain in perpetual moderate crisis rather than resolved stability.
